OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. | Kelsi Dunne only gave up two hits Sunday, but it was one too many.
Arizona State’s Jackie Vasquez hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to lift the second-ranked Sun Devils to a 3-1 victory over the third-ranked University of Alabama softball team in the semifinal round of the Women’s College World Series.
The Crimson Tide finished with a 58-8 record and a top-four finish at the WCWS, ending its run through the eight-team national championship event with a hard-fought loss in front of 6,871 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
Alabama took the lead when Kellie Eubanks was hit by a pitch to lead off the top of the third inning. She moved to second on Lauren Parker’s sacrifice bunt and advanced to third when Brittany Rogers hit into a fielder’s choice. [more]
